Data De-duplication
- The purpose of Electronic Vault is to ensure that all your essential corporate data is fully backed up, secure and able to be restored as rapidly as required. However, much of this data is in fact multiple copies of the same thing.
- By de‐duplicating, Electronic Vault ensures that the smallest amount of data possible is backed up and retained, thus significantly reducing the total amount that needs to be stored. This data de-duplication takes place at both a local level (ie. on a single site) and on a global level (i.e. across multiple sites). Ultimately Electronic Vault directly reduces the overall cost of the backup solution by minimising the amount of data that needs to be stored.
Backup Lifecycle Management (BLM)
- Business Lifecycle Management is essentially based on the principal that you should be able to align the value that you assign to your data with the cost of storing it. For example, it is typically the case that the value of certain data will decline over time, but it can still be necessary to retain it either to meet regulatory requirements or for "just in case" peace of mind.
- BLM allows you to categorise your data accordingly, allowing you to store less important data, which perhaps doesn't need to be retrieved as rapidly at a lower cost. Most importantly, you decide BLM policies, allowing you to set your backup policies directly in line with real business requirements
WAN Optimisation

In addition to minimising the amount of data that needs to be backed up, Electronic Vault utilises compression technology to ensure that all data placed in our Vault is transferred there as efficiently as possible. This places minimal overhead on connectivity and eliminates the need to provision for additional expensive bandwidth.
Autonomic Healing

Whilst most businesses already have backup policies in place, many are rightly concerned about the actual integrity of that data and what would really happen if it ever needed to be restored. Autonomic Healing is a feature of MirrorVAULT, running seamlessly in the background to identify and isolate corrupted or otherwise problematic files.
Fully Automated
- A hidden cost in many backup solutions is the sheer time and effort required to maintain them. Executing Tape Backup in particular is known to be a laborious and grinding daily process.
- With Electronic Vault, backups can be centrally scheduled and automated, thus eliminating daily maintenance tasks and removing the potential for human error or oversight. As well as minimising risk, this can help save precious resources.
Hybrid Solution
- MirrorVAULT is a hybrid solution, including elements of both local backup and cloud backup to ensure that data can be both rapidly restored and securely stored.
  Electronic Vault makes a local (ie.onsite) backup in order to facilitate the fastest possible restoration of data in the event of a disaster. However, it also stores your data in our Vault (ie. off‐site) so that even in the event of a complete site wide disaster, all data is still safe, secure and restorable.
256 AES Encryption
- Electronic Vault offers the strongest possible security, encrypting data both in flight and at rest to up to 256 AES (Advanced Encryption Standard). In recognition of its security credentials, our underlying backup software is compliant with the Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS 140‐2).
