Concorde and Veeam prevent data loss disaster

When Richard Russell, IT Systems Manager for Xiros joined the company, their IT system was due a technology refresh. 

Should disaster strike, the tape backup solution in place would not have offered the level of recovery provided by more innovative solutions in the market place and the process of re-building and re-installing end user equipment would have been lengthy.

In order to fully protect their valuable data, Concorde IT Group proposed a replacement of equipment and the installation of Veeam Backup & Replication, a cost-effective piece of software that provides a fast, flexible and reliable recovery of virtualised applications and data.

Due to the a large number of thin client users within Xiros, an award winning medical design and engineering business that manufactures medical implants, the software provided the perfect solution; it’s the most reliable tool for backing up virtual machines with around 4 million virtual users worldwide.

Concorde IT Group, who provide cost effective and innovative IT solutions to businesses across the country, installed the software onto HP ProLiant Gen8 servers and Richard is thrilled with the results, “From a company point of view, we’re assured that all of our data is fully protected. It’s well worth the investment and it only took one of the Concorde Technical Consultants a couple of days to install; it’s a god send.”

In addition, the Veeam Management Suite gives customers a single unified tool with advanced monitoring and reporting features, complete visibility of backup and virtual infrastructures and detailed documentation of backup status, performance and availability. For Xiros, a backup which could, on occasion, have taken over 24 hours to complete, now occurs automatically on a daily basis with no human input. 

A few weeks after completing the Veeam install, the software was put to the test when some data was lost.   

Richard describes, “As soon as we realised what had happened we logged onto Veeam, found the back up from the previous day and successfully restored all of the files from it. What could have taken us well over a month to sort, in reality only took us a couple of days to fix using our new Veeam software and there was no disruption to service delivery whilst we did it”
