IT support and services provider launches apprenticeship academy

Concorde IT Group Apprenticeship Academy

As part of their pledged commitment to the 100 Days Apprenticeship Challenge earlier this year, Concorde IT Group, a national IT reseller with around 100 staff, officially launched its own Apprenticeship Academy last month.

Concorde were looking for enthusiastic, driven candidates and have invited three local 16 year olds to join their expanding team at Concorde House in Wakefield, headquarters of the Yorkshire based IT services provider.

Over the next 12 months, Frazer, Nathaniel and James will spend time working within a number of service functions including Integration, Logistics, Service Desk, Workshop and Professional Services departments before deciding upon their chosen career path within the company.

The academy will give the new starters a flavour of working within a busy IT services and support business and upon completion of the formal training, offers of full time employment are planned. Concorde, who plan to take on more apprentices in the coming year, will then invest more time and resources into further training and coaching in their chosen area of the company.

The 100 Days campaign, which was launched in March by the National Apprenticeship Service, sought to encourage as many employers as possible to recruit apprentices over a four month period.

Concorde’s decision to create the academy follows on from the success of their recent apprenticeship programme. Apprenticeships are a great way to further develop a motivated, skilled and qualified workforce and the delivery of formal training combined with hands on work experience offers the new recruits a chance to develop their IT abilities and helps to lay the foundations for a successful career.

Group Managing Director, Neil Roberts, fully appreciates the importance of investing in the skills of the IT industry. “Being able to nurture our local young talent is something really close to our heart at Concorde. Many of us here, including myself, began our careers as apprentices and we’re now in a position to give something back. It’s vital that we move with the times and; we want to harness the fresh, creative outlook of our youngsters and apply it to the ever changing technology environment.”
